MARATHON WORLD CHAMPION TIAGO FERREIRA STARTING IN THE 2016 VAL DI FASSA BIKE
Equal prizes for men and women!
Moena (TN), 4 August, 2016 – With a little more than a month to go to the start of the 2016 Val di Fassa Bike on Sunday, September 11th, in Moena, Val di Fassa, the list of starting riders already includes some remarkable names. Significant, international calibre athletes have already confirmed their participation, curious to ride the new route designed by the Organizing Committee for the ninth edition of this popular mountain bike race, which this year will become one of the main events in the noted IMA Scapin circuit.
It’s a highly prestigious starting field, featuring Portugal’s Tiago Ferreira from Team Protek, 2016 Marathon World Champion, and Colombian Leonardo Paez from Team Olimpia Polimedical, winner of the 2015 Val di Fassa Bike. The challenge promises to be extremely tough and very exciting.
Ferreira will surely be given a hand by his team mates Periklis Ilias, the Greek Marathon World Champion in 2012, and Austrian Philip Handl; while Paez can count on the help of Dane Alexander Laugesen and Italians Pietro Sarai, Andrea Dei Tos and no less than the everlasting Marzio Deho, an icon in the Italian MTB movement, with more than 310 successes and an Italian Marathon Championship title in his career.
Sparks will surely also be flying with Tony Longo and Massimo Debertolis from Team Wilier Force, Marathon Italian Champion in 2013 and Marathon World Champion in 2004 respectively; then there is Australian Pilley Morgan from Haibike Lawley Factory Team and Francesco Casagrande from Cicli Taddei, ex pro cyclist and winner of important races like the Freccia Vallone and the Tirreno Adriatico.
The rich starting field will also feature the absolutely new sensation in the 2016 competitive season: Italian Maria Cristina Nisi.

The 2016 edition of Val di Fassa Bike signals the start of a new age in terms of prizes as well. In fact, for the men’s and women’s categories there will be perfectly identical cash rewards.
